Basic Skin Care

We all want beautiful young looking skin. Even in our twenties, it is important to care for our skin properly and even more so as we age.

You don't have to have money to buy the most expensive products to do basic skin care. It is quite simple to do the basics for your skin.

  • Drink plenty of water! This is so important. Keeping your skin (and the rest of your body) well hydrated is essential to fresh dewy skin.
  • Remove your makeup every night before bed. Leaving it on can clog your pores and leave you with dull dead-looking skin. This can be done simply with a handy face wipe wiped gently across your face and eyes. They even remove mascara and eyeliner.
  • Discover your skin type. Does your face get shiny or oily by midday? Do you have dry patches? Maybe you have combination skin, with a t-zone down your nose and forehead. Whatever your skin type, purchase products for that skin type.
  • Cleanse your face thoroughly at least once per day with a gentle cleanser.
  • Use a face mask once a week tailored to your skin type. There are peel-off, wash-off and exfoliating masks.
  • Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Again, find one for your skin type but don't neglect this important step.
  • Use sunscreen everyday. Some makeups and moisturizers have sunscreen in them so you can kill two birds with one stone. Don't forget the rest of your exposed skin!

How To Find A Great Deal When Shopping Online

No matter where you shop, you
want to get the best deal for your money. Online shoppers are no
different. Here are some ways to find great deals when shopping online.
Shop for deals online after a major holiday occurs. The best time for
shopping is after Thanksgiving. Retailers in stores and online are
looking to maximize their profits with your shopping dollar. Most of
your favorite outlet stores will be offering popular items on sale at a
fraction of the cost to attract more customers.
Some online retailers offer deals to customers that can’t be found in
the stores. Special online deals allow people to shop from the comfort
of their own home instead of standing in long lines outside the retail
stores. They may offer free shipping for orders over a certain dollar
amount.
Use coupons to shop at online stores. Check Sunday newspaper circulars.
Some stores offer customers the option of using their coupons online.
Since you have shipping and handling in addition to sales tax, online
merchants will offer more money off with their coupons for online
purchases.
Electronics are a popular item to purchase online. Check the comments
made by other shoppers before purchasing. Their comments give you an
idea of the quality and satisfaction you will receive from the product.
Stores like Circuit City offer deals on their electronics which
includes in-store pickup. What they will ask you to do is to enter your
address into the computer. They will give you the address of the
closest store location and the availability of the product you seek. If
the product is available, you have the option of paying online and
picking it up in the store. You avoid shipping and handling and long
lines in the store.
Sites like Overstock.com are always offering deals on all sorts of
items. Some are new and some are refurbished. Be sure that the site you
use is an authorized reseller of the selected product to avoid getting
ripped off. Again, check comments from other shoppers that have used
that site for shopping purchases.
Taking surveys can garner deals at shopping sites all across the
Internet. Places like MyPoints.com offer shopping deals to their
members through daily bonus e-mails just for trying products for a
trial period. Members also earn points towards gift cards and services
for trying these offers. There is no cost to become a member. Just sign
up and create a profile.
Deals are available to online shoppers, but you must know when and
where to look. Online shopping offers the convenience of browsing and
buying without leaving your home computer. Find family friendly product

What's the Difference Between Acrylic & Gel Nails?

The Hot Mama Makeover has reached the hands of many deserving moms and
I hope you are enjoying it and implementing the tips included. If you
haven’t picked up your copy yet, get it for free here => http://www.HotMamaMakeover.com
One question that a number of moms who have read the guide have asked
me is “What’s the difference between acrylic and gel nails?” Here are
some comparisons to help you decide which works best for you.
Acrylic nails - Composed of 2 parts: liquid and powder
- Take a bit longer than gels to dry
- Most are stronger, but can break due to lack of flexibility
- Cost less than gels
- Requires filling every 2-3 weeks depending on how quickly your nails
grow Gel Nails
- More natural looking
- Limited filing required reducing the risk of burns/cuts
- Dry with a UV lamp - Quick to dry, but the whole application process
takes longer
- Lifting can occur if you have oily nails or live in a humid
environment
- Cost is higher than acrylics
- Also require filling every 2-3 weeks
Most nail salons offer both options. Always talk with your nail
technician about any concerns you have beforehand. Choose the option
that works best for you and enjoy you’re pretty, new nails, you Hot
Mama, you! ;) ------

Beauty Book Wish List

There are quite a few books out that I want to read in the beauty world. I thought I'd take a moment to share them with you so you can read them along with me.

Amazon Wish List

This book looks so amazing and it is written by the makeup queen and model Bobbi Brown. The reviews on Amazon are fantastic. It is reported to be the only makeup book we'll ever need. I can't wait to get this one!

Lisa Rinna was so fun on Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place (did I just date myself?) and her book looks like this book is as fun as she is. It covers fitness, getting camera ready fast, advice for balancing work and family and even sex tips! Amazon, here I come!

This book looks wonderful. It even has the all important info on blood sugar! Once again, the reviews on Amazon were fantastic and the women rave about it. That works for me. I'm sold!

Hope you enjoy these books as much as I know I will! I'll review each one as I get them.

Take care!

Equate Healthy Glow: Test Run

First of all, let me apologize for such a long pause since my last post. I will try to be more regular from now on. :)

Today I am reviewing another Wal-Mart brand Equate product. It is Healthy Glow daily moisturizer for medium skin tones. I realize I am a light skin tone, but they didn't have one for light at the store so we'll see.

This product is supposed to create a gradual glow to your skin and progress several degrees in color. I'm going to test it for the rest of June and see how well it works. It retails for about $4.

I will say as a lotion, it is very moisturizing and smells really nice.

Here is a before pic of my arm now so you can see how pale I am. Stay tuned for part two of this post at the end of June.

*****I have stopped using this product. Not only was I not getting any color, but my clothes were. Even after letting it dry, my clothes still got orangy color on them. Epic FAIL!*******
